Thomas J. Adams
Thomas Adams has over twenty years of business and legal experience and represents banks, companies and individuals on corporate, securities and business law matters. He also provides strategic advice, litigation support and expert witness testimony on issues relating to the financial crisis including mortgage backed securities, securitization, credit default swaps and collateralized debt obligations. Before joining Paykin Krieg & Adams, he spent over 16 years in a variety of senior positions in the capital markets, including 4 years as a senior managing director at Financial Guaranty Insurance Company where he served as head of mortgage backed securities, consumer securities, collateral debt obligations and credit default swaps and alternative risk transfer, and member of the executive committee and senior credit committee. Prior to that, he was a managing director at Ambac Assurance Corporation and a Senior Credit Officer at Moody’s Investors Service. Mr. Adams began his career at Thacher Proffitt & Wood where he was an attorney in the structured finance practice group. Mr. Adams is an expert in creating solutions and solving problems for complex financial and corporate transactions and has provided strategic advice and analysis to banks, insurance companies, private equity companies, hedge funds and a variety of other companies. He has analyzed companies and markets internationally and closed transactions in England, Spain, Germany, Australia and Mexico.
As a consultant, he has worked with law firms and companies on issues such as distressed assets, portfolio analysis, bankruptcy and receivership issues, securitization industry practices and customs, valuations of securities, and collateral review and he has spoken and written on the subject of the financial crisis. As an attorney, he has represented businesses and individuals in corporate and securities issues, negotiations with builders and municipalities and other general practice matters. He graduated from Fordham Law School in 1989 and Colgate University in 1986. He is admitted to practice in New York.
